This $400 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior form AHS.  Students will be judged on an essay submitted.  Completed applications need to be submitted to Mrs. Vos in the guidance office no later than 4/1/2010.

Ankeny High School Legacy Scholarship
Ankeny Alumni Assoc., Inc.
This $600 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior form AHS who is a descendant of an Ankeny High School graduate (Parent or Grandparent).  Students must be continuing their education at an institute of higher learning after graduation.  Students will be judged on an essay submitted.  Completed applications need to be submitted to Mrs. Vos in the guidance office no later than 4/1/2010. Ankeny Alumni Assoc., Inc.

Beta Sigma PSI Lutheran Fraternity- Epsilon Chapter
Iowa State University.

Beta Sigma Psi is based upon three core values; spiritual, scholastic, and social.  By being a member of this fraternity, men are encouraged to grow in these values and also gain leadership experiences that will help them for a lifetime.   The alumni chapter is proving two $2,000 scholarships to incoming Lutheran men for their education at Iowa State.  Scholarships must be postmaked by February 26, 2010.  See Mrs. Rowland in Guidance for a copy of the application.   Questions can be directed to 563-676-9328 or betasigscholarship@iastate.edu .


Brian Pearson Memorial Scholarship

These scholarships are sponsored by the Iowa Sports Foundation, Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.  Johnny and Ronnie Orr, Skinner Family and the Kenyon Family is annually give to Two high school seniors.   Each year a $1,000 scholarship is awareded to one female and one male who exemplify the spirit of Brian Pearson.   Applicants are considered based on their display of character and emphasis on volunteering in school, church, and community as well as participation in Iowa sports foundation events.   Applicants should complete and submit the application by May 1, 2010.  Mr. David Ford in the Guidance Department has a copy of the application or contact Jim Hallihan jim@iowasportsfoundation.org phone 888-777-8881 ext. 102 or Kim Abels 888-777-8881 ext. 105. 
 

Cargill Community Scholarship Program
Cargill Animal Nutrition, 610 SE Creekview Drive, Ankeny, IA

Cargill will award $1,000 scholarships to 350 high-school seniors living near Cargill communities nationwide and provide $200 to each student's school library.  Applications and guidelines are online at www.cargill.com key word:scholarship and at www.ffa.org applications require the signature of a Cargill employee and all applications are due by February 15, 2010.  Chirldren of Cargill employees are not eligible, but are eligible for the Cargill Scholarship Program for Sons and Daughters.  If you have any questions or would like more information call the FFA-Cargill Scholarship hotline at 1-888-476-9332 or email cargill@ffa.org


 
Delta Kappa Gamma Society

Is an international organization for women educators and is awarding a grant-in-aid scholarship of five hundred dollars to a senior student in the Polk County suburban area.   This scholarship will be sent tot eh college that teh senior will attend to credit their account.   Girls who are going to majoring in education and who will be attending college this fall are encouraged to apply.  Only one appilcant can represent Ankeny High School.  If you are interested in this scholarship, please visit Mrs. Vos for full details.   Deadline for application to the Tau Chapter is February 19, 2010. 


DMACC Foundation
Students seeking tuition assistance for fall 2010 / spring 2011 semesters can apply online for scholarships from the DMACC Foundation.  Submitting one online applications will place a student under consideration for many DMACC Foundation awards for which they may be eligible depending on criteria such as grade point average (GPA), program or campus.  For more information regarding DMACC scholarships, visit www.dmacc.edu/scholarships  application deadline March 1, 2010.

Dollars for Scholars
Dollars for Scholars is proud to announce that they are accepting applications from the Ankeny High School graduating class.  We encourage every Ankeny High School senior to complete this application, if they intend to pursue further education.  Applications may be printed off and returned to the Ankeny Community Ed office (306 SW School Street) no later than March 1, 2010 at 3:30 pm.  Please note that the Peacemaking application is optional and additional to the other enclosures but must be submitted with The Dollars for Scholars Application. Any questions please contact the Community Education Office at 289-3960.


First Friday Breakfast Club

The First Friday Breakfast Club is an educational, non-profit corporation for gay and bisexual men who meet on the first Friday of every month to be educated on community affairs and enjoy supportive networking.  FFBC is offering a one time scholarship of $2,500 paid in two installments upon receipt of the student's proof of enrollment in the institution of secondary education.   Applicant Qualifications include; graduating senior from an iowa high school, resident of state of Iowa and planning to pursue post-secondary education, able to demonstrate activities that have helped reduce homophobia in his or her school and/or community, awards are made without regard to gender, gender orientation, gender identity, race, religion, creed or marital or employment status of the applicant or his/her relatives.   Applications are available online at www.ffbciowa.org or email jonathanwilson@davisbrownlaw.com  Applicants can also contact First Friday Breakfast Club Scholarship Committee c/o Jonathan C. Hoover Uncommon Student Award

This award is for Juniors only.  In the spring of your junior year, students submit a project proposal and two letters of recommendations. Approximately 15 finalists are selected based on the ambitious nature of teh stated project goal. Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education
The Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation will award 15 scholarships of $2,000 each to selected students this spring.  One of the scholarships will be awarded in the name of M.O.  Kahn of Des Moines.   This scholarship criteria includes the following: The student selected will have an interest in pursing a career in the automotive industry or related field and the student will be a resident of Boon, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Polk, Story or Warren county.    All applications must be received by IADA by March 15, 2010.  Please see Mrs. Rowland in Guidance for a copy of the application and scholarship critieria.  

Iowa Newspaper Scholarship
Iowa Newspaper Foundation

The Iowa Newspaper Foundation offers scolarships for Iowa college students preparing for a career in the newpaper industry.  Scholarships usually range from $500 to $1000.   To apply go to www.inanews.com/inf/scholarships.php  Deadline:2/12/10


Iowa Soybean Association
The Iowa Soybean Association will be accepting applications from high school seniors who are futhering their education at an ag-related college or university.  The scholarships are in the amount of $1,500.  Applications must be postmarked by March 15, 2010 and scholarship winners will be notified by April 30, 2010.   See Mrs. Rowland in Guidance for a copyo f the application and scholarship criteria. 

Iowa State Fair Scholarship
The Governor Terry E. Branstad Iowa State Fair Scholarship application for academic year 2010-11 is now available on the I Have a Plan Iowa web site http://www.ihaveaplaniowa.gov/. To apply, click on the Iowa Financial Aid Application under the Quicklinks section. The Governor Terry E. Branstad Iowa State Fair (State Fair) Scholarship, named after former Governor Terry E. Branstad, recognizes outstanding Iowa high school seniors who have actively participated in the Iowa State Fair. The State Fair Scholarship is administered by the Iowa College Student Aid Commission (the Commission).

James B. Morris Scholarship

Keep Iowa Beautiful

Robert E. Byers Scholarship fand the Keep Iowa Beautiful Endowment will be offerering up to four, $500.00 schoalrships to Iowa high school seniors in 2010.  Iowa students who are enrolling in an Iowa college or university to major in community enhancement or environmental areas of study are eligible.  Applications will be available on-line at www.keepiowabeautiful.com Applications are due by February 1, 2010 and will only be accepted by e-mail.  Scholarship winners will be notified by March 10, 2010 and recognized at the KIB annual symposium on April 16 in West Des Moines.  Please contact KIB office at 515-323-6507 with any questions. 


KFC Colonel's Scholars
KFC Foundation

KFC Colonel's Scholars is looking for high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit to quality for the KFC Colonel's Scholars Program.  Awards are up to $20,000 for tuition, fees, textbooks, room and board.  To qualify, graduating high school seniors must earn a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75, enroll in a public college or university within their state of legal residence, plan to pursue a bachelor's degree, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and demonstrate financial need.

Kohl's

Legal Support Professionals of Polk County
LSPPC is offering a scholarship in the amount of $500 to an individual anticipating a career in law.   Those who pursing a career as a lawyer, legal secretary or a paralegal are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.   The successful applicant will be a high school senio and have at least a "B" average or not less than an 85% if percentile system is used.  The application must be received by February 26, 2010.  See Mrs. Rowland in Guidance for a copy of the application and criteria. 


Miss Iowa Speedway
Grand Lodge of Iowa, A.F. & A.M.

This scholarships will be awarded to a number of graduating Iowa high school seniors that plan to enroll in a mechanical or trade course of study at an accredited Iowa Community College.  To apply go to www. gl-iowa.org.  Deadline: 3/1/10


Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship
MidWest One Bank- The Pearl Hull Falk Trust

Pearl Hull Falk established a Trust and provides 75 to 85 scholarships in the amount of $400.00.  The scholarship funds are paid directly to the recipients in installments of $200.00 at the beginning of each semester.  Each recipient of the Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship must be of the Protestant faith, a resident of the State of Iowa, and a full-time student at the University of Iowa.    At least one of the recipients must be a member of the Episcopal Church and at least one young man who shows interest in and promise for a career in banking.  All receipients must be of good character and have a good scholastic record.  All applicants must complete a Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship Application.  The  Application form and supporting materials must be submitted to the Scholarship Committee no later than May 1, 2010.

Polk County Farm Bureau AG Enhancement Scholarship
Polk County Farm Bureau will award ten $2,000 Ag Enhancement scholarships $500 for four years for 2010 high school graduates.   Eligibilty requirements for this scholarship include: Must be a resident of Polk County, Must be a graduate of a Polk County high school and or Polk County alternate school, must be going into an agricultural business related field, student is required to be a full-time student, and to be eligible for renewal, one must carry a 2.5 grade point.   Scholarship applications must be post marked by Wednesday, March 31, 2010.   For a copy of the scholarship see Mrs. Rowland in Guidance.

Polk Soil & Water Conservation District

The Conservation Districts of Iowa CDI is sponsoring a scholarship again for 2010 graduating Seniors.  This scholarship is for Iowa high school seniors who are pursing collge level programs of study in any field of agriculutre or natural resources.   In order to apply applicants need to access the application and rules at www.cdiowa.org The application deadline is March 3, 2010.   The commissioners will select one Polk County applicant and forward their application to the Iowa Regional Director.  


Prairie Meadows 2009-2010 High School Scholarship

Prairie Meadows will be offering a $2,500 scholarship to every high school in Polk County.   All students must be albe to fulfill all the following elements:
  • Accepted at an accredited Iowa institution
  • United States citizen or permanent resident for at least two consecutive years
  • Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Enrolling as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more) in fall of 2010
Applicants must complete the attached application, write an essay, submit two letters of recommendation and a color photo (if avilable).  Completed Applications will need to be returned to Mrs. Vos by Friday April 2, 2010.

Robert D. Blue Scholarship
This scholarship is made possible by the Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation.  Any Iowa student who plans to attend an Iowa college or Univeristy is eligible for this award.   Application are expected to demonstrate literary and scholastic ability; exhibit qualities of truth, courage, and fellowship; and display moral force of character.  The deadline for submission is May 10, 2010.  More information about the Robert D. Every year the Iowa Speedway grants a $1500 tuition scholarship for Miss Iowa Speedway. Applicants are invited to participate in a personal interview for the role of trophy presenter and spokes model for the track. Contestants must be at least 18 years of age on May 22, 2010, unmarried, and enrolled in an accredited College or University in the United States in the 2010-2011 school year.
 
Applications must be mailed to Iowa Speedway, Attn: Miss Iowa Speedway Contest, 3333 Rusty Wallace Drive, Newton, Iowa 50208 before the March 19th deadline.  Finalists will be selected by a panel of judges and will appear for the panel for final consideration after the interview process, to be held on April 22nd.  Miss Iowa Speedway will be crowned on May 22nd at Iowa Speedway, prior to the Pride of Iowa Casey’s General Stores USAC Triple Crown Series Event.

Student Insights
The 2010 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $8,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school.  The program includes: one $4,000, two $1,000 and four $500.00 scholarships.   There is no minimum SAT/ACT score or grade point average, no essay, no lengthy application and no fee.  Simply log onto www.student-view.com and complete the 15-20 minute application survey.   This scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications and the winner will be announced on May, 2010.   The deadline is April 22, 2010. Sammy 2010 Body by Milk
The Sammy 2010 Award program recognizes outstanding scholar athletes.  A $7,500 college sholarship is available.  From now until March 5, 2010 students can be nominated by a teacher, coach, counselor, parent, or relative.   Please note that applications will only be accepted online at www.bodybymilk.com until    
March 5, 2010.   


 
The Gates Millennium Scholars Program
The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS), funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding, low income African American, American Indian, Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline they choose.  Applicats must be a U.S. citizen or have national or legal permanent residency in the U.S., have attained a GPA of 3.3 and be enrolling full time at an accredited college or university.  Online applications are preferred and can be found at www.gmsp.org 


The Salon Professional Academy, Ames IA
The Salon Professional Academy has two scholarships available for students enrolling in T-SPA for the fall of 2010.  If you plan on attending teh Salon Professional Academy and you would like to know more about the scholarships available contact admissions at 515-956-3781.  Applications are due by March 31, 2010.   Students can also see Mrs. Rowland in Guidance for an application. 

Thomas Goodrich Memorial Scholarship
A new scholarship available to spring graduates of Polk or Dallas county high schools.  It is targeted towards students that would like to pursue a career related to wildlife and conservation.  It is funded by the Central Iowa Gun Dog Club and is in memory of one of the clubs founding members, Tom Goodrich.

US Bank Internet Scholarship Program
U.S. Bank

This year U.S. Bank will award forty $1,000 scholarships.  High School seniors planning to enroll next fall at an eligible four-year college or university participating in the U.S Bank No Fee Education Loan Program are eligible to apply.  Scholarship award recipients are selected through a random drawing process.  Further details, including college or university eligibility, can be found on our website.   usbank.com/studentloans   The U.S. Bank website contains a wealth of information on paying for college and provides links to other helpful websites, a powerful Scholarship search engine, and links to the U.S. Department of Education for the FAFSA form.   Applications will be accepted from October, 2009 through March 2010.

VEISHEA, 2010
This scholarship is based on both Leadership and Community Involvement in the amount of $500 and $1,000.   This scholarship if for students entering Iowa State in the fall of 2010.  Students must have been accepted to Iowa State University and plan on attending in the fall of 2010; rank in the upper 15% of high school classes, have an ACT copostie score of at least 26 or an SAT score of 1800 or above, as well as exhibt involvement in high school and community activities, particularly in leadership positions.  Applications must be postmarked no later than February 15, 2010 for consideration.  Students can find applications and apply online at the VEISHEA website: www.veishea.iastate.edu.  Semi-finalist will be notified by March 8, 2010.

Iowa State University

The $1000. H.S. Ostlin Memorial Scholarship will be awared to an entering freshman at Iowa State University who is a resident of one of the following Iowa counties: Dalla, Jasper, Marion, Marshall, Polk, Story, or Warren.   Preference will be given to engineering majors.  Selection is based on academic excellence and applicats must file a FAFSA application prior to March 1.  The scholarship is renewable for three additional years provided the student fulfills the scholarship requirements.   Applications for the H.S. Ostlin Memorial Scholarship must be complete by March 1.   You may request an application by contacting the Office of Student Finanical Aid at Iowa State University: www.financialaid.iastate.edu or by phone: 515-294-0065. 

The all Iowa Opportunity Scholarship application for academic year 2010-11 is now available on the I Have a Plan Iowa web site http://www.ihaveaplaniowa.gov .  High School seniors who graduate with the class of 2010 are eligible to apply if they meet the following criteria: Iowa resident who will be attending an Iowa college or university, maintining at least a 2.5 cumalitve grade point average on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent; enrolls for at least 3 semester hours, and completes a free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), completes the additional applications and documents required by the commission.  To see a complete list of requriements visit www.ihaveaplaniowa.gov To apply, click on the Iowa Financial Aid application under the quicklinks section.   First priority will be provided to students whose application are received on or before March 1, 2010.  if you have any questions contact the Commission's information service senter at 1-877-272-4456.  


Family Involvement Board Scholarship

This scholarship is open to any high school senior who will graduate in 2010 and who will be entering an accredited undergraduate, graduate or vocational program.  All applicants must have an account established in their own name and be a "member in good standing" at a credit union that is a member of the Iowa Credit Union League.  Scholarship amounts vary from $500 to $1,500.  Applications are availiable and completed on-line at www.iowacreditunions.com  All entries are due by February 5, 2010. 



This scholarship is open to seniors who will submit an original literary composition that shows what kinds of opportunities and challenges you think your education will present in the future.  All entries must be original works submitted in personal essay/memoir format.  The essay can be no longer than 500 words.  Entries must be postmarked by February 15, 2010.  Applications are available on line at www.ohtheplaces.org


Iowa Credit Union Foundation

The scholarship is offered to senior students who have an account in good standing at any credit union in Iowa.  Students will submit an essay in order to compete for six different scholarships.  To learn more visiit www.iowacreditunions.com   Deadline: 2/5/10
