Welcome to Ankeny High School, home of the fabulous Hawks and Hawkettes! Ankeny High School has a long, proud tradition of striving for “excellence in education…by putting students first!” Our 2009-2010 enrollment will be more than 1600 students, and we look forward to meeting the newest members of our student body.

We are building for the future and constructing world class schools for AHS students. The new high school at Prairie Trail is well underway. While we build for the future, we will continue to focus on creating the very best learning experience for our students. We are committed to creating a caring community of learners and we welcome your participation in that effort.

We feel so fortunate at Ankeny High School to have such great students and teachers! We have a very supportive board of education and a district office that allows us to provide our students with the best educational experience in the State of Iowa.

Northeast Missouri State University--BSE and MA in Special Education
King Alfred's College, Winchester, England--Diploma In Special Education
Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia--Leadership Certificate

Our articulation with Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and our commitment to hiring highly qualified teachers allowed students to earn over 9800 DMACC credits this past year! In addition, many students take advantage of our Post-Secondary Options courses available at other colleges as well.

Ankeny High School exemplifies great success in academics, the arts, and activities. Active parent participation through our music boosters, our activity boosters and our academic boosters is key, and we encourage others to be a part of our support network. In addition, the Ankeny Foundation provides outstanding support for our programs through a generous grant program, made available twice per year. The community of Ankeny supports us in so many ways, and we are thankful for their loyalty and devotion to our students.
